Ta-ke 3 floor light by Michael Anastassiades.
Following the limited run of lights for the 2021 ‘Cheerfully optimistic about the future’ exhibition at Fondazione ICA in Milan, Michael Anastassiades brought this family of floor lamps into mainstream production. A simplified unlimited version of the original, the sophistication and craftsmanship are still just as present.
The floor light is formed of an arrangement of bamboo poles that have been placed on a metal base, creating a simple structure to support a glowing linear bulb. A series of wire springs wrap around the poles, to further assist in the bulb’s suspension.
Michael Anastassiades says, “I have always been intrigued by bamboo as a material and by its ability to grow in an almost perfectly straight line. I am fascinated by the thought of using it in exactly the way it grows naturally by simply cutting it at the moment it reaches its required diameter. I love the idea that I could use it without any industrial processing, by simply defining a series of parameters to determine my selection and cutting process. The project is essentially an exercise of negotiation with nature.”
Available in three compositions, the Ta-ke light is a beautiful addition to any contemporary space.
